Rewriting Rx Saver in React
After the acquisition, I helped migrate Rx Saver's frontend from Angular to React/Redux and raised unit-test coverage by 40%.
- Role
- Software engineer
- Stack
- React, Redux, Jest, Enzyme, Sass, .NET → Java/Spring
- Result
- +40% frontend test coverage
The problem
After acquiring LowestMed, RetailMeNot rebranded the product as Rx Saver. The frontend was still the original Angular code, which was hard to test and slowed the team down.
What I did
- Helped migrate the full frontend from Angular to React and Redux, alongside a redesign.
- Pushed for testing as we went, raising frontend unit-test coverage by 40% with Jest and Enzyme.
- Reviewed peer code for function, design, and consistency.
- Helped with the backend move from .NET to Java/Spring.
- Led the redesign and refactor of the marketing site’s WordPress theme.
TODO: How did you migrate without a big-bang rewrite (page by page? a strangler pattern?), and how long did it take?
The result
A modern, well-tested React codebase the team could ship on confidently, with 40% more of the frontend covered by tests.
